So first I do not know muy thai I know how to fight but lets go ahead and say I am not trained to fight in any way at all besides a couple of weeks of jui-jitsu I learned from a friend. So I have skimmed alot and read a good bit. I wanted to try pad work outs(new to me). I dont have a trainer or trained muy thai fighter so me and my wife are training. So we started at a slow pace until we got more used to the books instructions and picked up fast. I had three routines flowing together smoothly. I was going to Jab – Cross – Hook to Uppercut – Hook – cross to Jab – Cross – Step side cross and I looked like I knew my stuff. Only thing ONLY thing I have to say is the work out routine given is impossible for me to do unless if I quit my job. I go to work early enough as it is and have a baby. So thats the only suck part to it but I think I might try to follow the afternoon part of the work outs after my Weight workouts. Must buy if you cant afford dvds.

Provides a brief history of Muay Thai and life growing up in Thailand as a fighter. Great visual aids/examples and solid instruction for beginner MT practitioners to correct form for Professionals. Provides Thai style training and weekly schedule at professional level, along some drilling techniques for pad work, heavy bag (and other types of bags) and general expectations and regiment of Thai fighters (Which I definitely took note of). Also provides a lot of detail in helping you understand best methods to find a gym I’m Thailand best suits your specific needs on several levels. Why did I rate 4 out 5 stars, instead of a straight 5 if this book is so complete? Though this has filled a few gaps for me as it relates to MT and I really appreciated the thoroughness of the content (I fight on an amateur level and have been MT student for several years), I was really hoping to learn more combinations to add to my training and fight game. The book not touch on combinations in really any detailed level. Furthermore, though there are great heavy bag specific training generally known drills, there was little detail on any sequences for combinations to use for bag work. Past basic kicking drills/conditioning and suggestion to do rounds dedicated to specific techniques I would recommend this book to beginner MT to Intermediary practitioners or to advanced folks who are interested looking to fill in potential gaps of their knowledge base.

Valuable beginner’s manual with helpful photos. Muay Thai practitioner Tana “Chun” Yingwitiyakhun and his brother demonstrate the moves and positions throughout. Chun was a successful fighter and is now a respected trainer in Thailand. This is a great gift for beginning nak muay (students of MY).
